Found this among grandpa’s collection. Difficult to photograph. The Crystal is a cloudy gray color, with darker gray/black striations. Would look pretty cool all polished up.
Rutile inclusions in quartz can be black or silvery grey, but they're more usually a lighter golden colour. When the inclusions are black, the other common possibility is 'tourmalated quartz'. You'll certainly find both in Nevada.
Yes. sorry - I should have mention I believe it has been slabbed. I will inspect more closely! Know anyone that might polish into cabs for me? If it's not super valuable, I'd love to have something made from it for my wife.

Your best bet is to call a local lapidary club and ask them if anyone can make cabochons for you out of your tourmalated quartz cut, there's usually someone who does or will.
