Just got an X-Terra 505 with a 3kHz coil and decided to go over my yard again last week. Our house was built in '55. I remember reading right on this site about the clotheslines being a spot for goodies and that they usually ran between two trees. I only have 3 trees out back, so it wasn't hard to find the clothesline! The first target was a solid 42 on the detector numerical ID and was an aluminum money clip that was the American Motorcycling Association tour award for 1961. Then four modern '60s cents in a row and a clothespin spring. Then another penny reading of 33 for 5-6 swipes, then from another direction it changed to iron -6 for a few swipes, dug it and it turned out to be a men's sterling bracelet! In the exact perfect corner of the yard, Within sight of the kitchen window, I dug an old mason jar lid. Nothing else was there, but that had me going for a bit! I also pulled a whole jumprope from 6 inches under, just pulled it up through the dirt, was just hoping it wasn't a leash still attached to a dog. In the front yard besides the driveway, I found a dozen wheats all in one 2 foot area from 1917-53. I found another from '37 the next morning right there. I can't finish the front yard yet cuz a momma bird keeps swooping at my head if I get anywhere near the tree her nest is in, lol.
