Clips

Does anyone know what these aluminum clips are? I've been finding a lot of them in the backyard of the farm property I've been searching. I was thinking maybe clothes line hangers, but only remember wooden ones.
Any ideas?

Thanks Jim. That is it. At least they are older than I thought. 1940's.
I wonder if my wife would want them for our 25th anniv. gift? Hmmmmmmmmm.
