I have the opportunity to clean out an old house this weekend on a friends property. Her husbands great grandmother lived in this house and it is still standing, however, I hear its in pretty bad shape. The reason it is so intriguing is that I heard there are hundreds of old books remaining in the house. A couple of months ago my friend found a book with a War Bond as a bookmark.

Anyway, I can only imagine what else is left in this house and we felt it was necessary to get as much out as we could before the house collapses. I want to catalogue all of the books and whatever else we find.

As you can see, this house may be full of history or full of dust. And I need your help as to how to approach this endeavor. Should we just dive in and started unloading? Have any of you ever done anything like this before and if so, any lessons learned? Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
J

Check old news papers, magazines etc. My best man cleaned out his aunts house when she passed away and they found 20 to 100 dollar bills in all kinds of books and such. many thousands worth! Cladius.

Take every book home with you and search them all for money, etc. and then go check ebay and see if they have any value. If they don't, then trash them. If you decide to search through it all while in the house and you expect it to be torn down then take one room and make it your trash room. Once you search something toss it in that room.
