yep, looks like clad in a wrapper. Now, trade them off at your local bank for the worst looking home rolled coins in the same denomination. But don't do it at my bank, sheeesh, I keep getting my own clad back when I'm chr ing. :icon_jokercolor:

I bought the tumble at Michaels craft store. I think it is the only model they have...

Michaels Tumbler.. I use dish soap, ammonia and water.. Mixed with aquarium gravel.. Fill the tumbler 3/4 of the way with the mixture of coins and gravel. The combination of water, dish soap and ammonia should be about 1/4' above the coins and gravel.. On first use I was only able to fill the tumbler about half way.. Only until the band on the drive shaft really caught a grip, I was able to fill almost all the way... I usually tumble for 8-12 hours for the really dirty coins... Less for the not so bad ones...

Re: Cleaned my clad today! Before and after pics.

I have seen tumblers that had 2- 3lb. barrels on them that you can tumle both at same time, I think Lortone makes 'em.

Cool... 8) How much did it cost? :icon_scratch:...

$29.99. It's really just a toy tumbler, but works like a charm...

Re: Cleaned my clad today! Before and after pics.

Go to http://www.hobbywarehouse.com and search for tumblers. They even have a Lortone there that has 3 barrels on it, only 105.00.

I was going to buy a Lortone and still may. I heard about the Michaels tumbler. Saw it was so inexpensive, gave it a try and was very pleased...

I bought my current tumbler from Harbor freight for 30 bucks. Holds 3 lbs. of coins.

Whoa!! This thing can barley hold 3 ounces.....lol well that's exaggerating a little, but nowhere close to 3 pounds...

Nice job on the coin cleaning. I just don't see a reason to spend money and/or to clean money. My bank accepts anything I bring them - guess that's one benefit of small town living.
Thx TT, Just thought it would be fun to clean. :D

Man! What DOESN"T Harbor Freight carry? :D

Those are some shiny coins, Jraven! :o

If any of you are thinking about the Michael's tumbler, look for their 40% off any one item coupons in the Sunday paper or maybe they have them on line.

If you really want to be cheap, you can build your own. Here's the original thread on the General Discussion forum with a pic of a homemade tumbler. That's just one way to do it. All you need is some way to turn an irregular shaped container. :tard: It's ugly, but it works....
