IDK :icon_scratch: Either very old or more recent studio art pottery made to look old? Never know whats behind items found in a box lot. ??? Maybe worth having a person who understands old pottery techniques and clay types have a look at it in person?

Thanks Tamrock... Yeah, my thoughts exactly. It certainly can be 20th century studio art, but the strange paint styles and heavy wear make it seem much older to me. Never ran into a pottery expert but I'd sure ask him/her about it if I did.

All that wear and things can be replicated, so it's hard to say for sure. To me it looks kind of like stoneware washed in wave action beach sands. Maybe search the web for other places for an inquiry ? Extensive Information on Archaeology and Artefacts

Judging by the photos, and not seeing it in person, it appears to be very old. Also judging by its size, it could have been hand-made for a dice shaker cup for gambling.

Neat score :)

Thanks Breezie! Probably the fact that it's handmade will make it hard to date, but I agree it looks to have a lot of age.
