The final chapter...ring return
I found a class ring a couple of days ago and tracked down the owner, I'm happy to say the ring is back where it belongs. The owners wife sent me a picture today with a write up she posted on the Lynn English Class of 1968 Facebook page. I've been thinking about the way events unfold, I have to say, the intelligence behind the Universe is absolutely amazing, I'm in awe
"I want to thank everyone who helped get my husband Gary Mitchell's class ring back to me. It arrived yesterday. Dan Conger has been a complete gentleman and a very kind and generous person.
He couldn't have found me without all of your help. It was very interesting to see how the detective work unfolded through the comments.
After graduation, Gary and some friends all chipped in and bought a VW bus to drive cross country to San Francisco. They drove straight through and I'm not aware of the route they took. I'm sure they must have stopped occasionally, and possibly (probably) in Alamagordo, NM. That was the only time he was ever west of the Mississippi.
He didn't have the ring when I met him in 1976.
It's back in Massachusetts after 48 years. I have to say this has been a little overwhelming."
Here's a link to the Facebook page with all the people who helped and how it unfolded.
