Claim List

Most of NF american is considered wild and scenic; you're not going to get a claim there. Otherwise use Geocommunicator, Google earth in conjunction with LR2000 Database (Google them).

Thanks, thought most of the river was claimed. I will search them up. I wanted to find out where I could prospect without going onto someone else's land, not ready for a claim yet.

Well most of the north fork, because it is wild and scenic, is free of claims other than a few that were grandfathered in (someone correct me if I am wrong) so as long as you are not using any mechanized equipment you are okay (Gold pans and sluices).

Yup, I have no mechanical gold equipment and know never to use them. Although I have been wanting to know if a recuirulating high banker is legal to use. I don't currently own one and am not planning to buy one, just curious to know.
Thanks for the info

Mine Cache is good and costs around $30 a year, also it's connected right to LR2000 and is kept updated fairly well.

I've mapped the North Fork and the Middle Fork from the confluence upstream.

The Wild and Scenic portion starts a little more than a quarter mile above Iowa Hill bridge. Below there are claims and private land on a good portion of the North Fork.

There are areas open to claim throughout the drainage. Many areas within the known tertiary gravels are open to claim. The best gold is, and always has been, on the benches above the river.

The LR2000 and the maps based on it will only get you within 1/2 mile. Neither will show you the land ownership or the areas open to claim.

Well you asked... :laughing7:

There are more than 180 claims on the North Fork. Only a few of those are "grandfathered". There are several thousand acres of public land still open to claim on the North Fork drainage alone.

Similar situation on the Middle Fork.

So I am familiar with the Footprints Mapping Program of Rich Hill Az, and other areas in Az as well. Are there any maps such as the Az maps for Calif hence the NF and Middle Fork?

We have mapped the Norh Fork and the Middle Fork of the American River (including the claims) in our prospectors mapping software series Bejay. It would be a violation of forum rules for me to say more than that publicly. I wouldn't want to offend our generous hosts here on TNet. :happysmiley:
