Had a good time yesterday hunting a couple of parks. Those squats and deep knee bends sure remind me of my age, but I’m thankful for my health to be doing it at all.
At the first park I dug the rings and locket, and met a fella going into the community building who had detected here for many years. I showed him my finds when he asked, and he said this was a park that never stops giving up coins because of its popularity and community sports fields. We had a nice chat and he went on his way after saying he hadn’t detected in a few years because he had so many other hobbies, and wasn’t likely to spend the money to upgrade his old beep-n-dig machine. Guess I’ll just have to pick up the pace and find his share of goodies as well.
I learned something new today... .925 means that sterling has been plated with rose gold...interesting. I learned it because the Locket has .925R stamped on the back. BTW,the Locket was empty.
Other than that it was a typical cool day detecting in NE Ohio. I have not seen another detectorist all winter, but there are no shortage of people who say they own a detector by only used it a few times. Seems everywhere I go I have no problem finding coins and "stuff." Guess the detecting impact is minimal here.
