Civil War Sword Belt Plate Found in my front yard July 24, 2013

ive been detecting for a lil over 2 years now and have found some great stuff here in VA, especially civil era items, i have gone over my own property before and did not find any civil war items in it but i have found some in my neighbors yard, well i just recently acquired a wide scan coil for my tesoro tejon and was experimenting in my front yard today and got a decent signal, well i started diggin and kept digging and after about a foot down i got to my target and when i got to it out damn if it wasnt a 1851 style saber belt plate, im still in shock, it was under my nose the whole time, still cant believe it

my buddy dug a keeper that probably goes to this buckle in my neighbors yard a year ago, hes gonna bring it by this weekend to see if its a match

Congrats...

just shows that one has to thoroughly search their property particuarly in "civil war" country, many houses are built over landfill and some relics may be deep....Such it is in the Manassas-Centreville area.

quick update, the keeper that my buddy dug in the neighbors yard does not match up with this buckle, makes me wonder if theres another buckle lurking nearby haha
