most of it isn't worth anything, most is fake, especially the cs buckle.

The pistol might be real, and the slave tag is doubtful.

Are these items you've purchased I take it?

I'm not an expert but hopefully someone else will be able to help you.Welcome to TN.

Sorry bud, I hope you're not out a ton of money.

I don't know anything about the pictures, so they might have some value.

I do know 100% the buckle is fake, CS ovals didn't have a lead back. They also had thin sheet metal brass hooks, not those. Plus, I'm willing to bet it's a two ring garner bullet hammered into the plate. I've seen a ton of these.

The coin doesn't look real at all, the border isn't consistent.

The kepi doesn't look real either, odds of you getting one with a small csa button on it and infantry hatpin is slim. It would be a VERY high dollar item if it was real. If you look at the back of the hatpin, you'll probably see straight non-period hooks.

Ok thanks. Hey just curious as to what you think about the 1848 Penny. It has a soldiers name engraved on it as well the year he engraved it. From my research soldiers used coins as name tags. Think its worth anything

Yeah if it's real and you can find the soldier's records, it could be pretty valuable, I'd think between $500-1500 depending on his history and record.

I'm pretty sure it's not real though, I'd have to look at it in person, but the engraved coins are popular fake items.

Yeah, I hope your not out much $. I replied on another thread that a slave tag was one of the most faked SC WBTS artifacts. The buckle may be the most. One obvious fake puts everything else in doubt in a lot like this. Two fakes just push it over the edge.

The hat brim is also to to nice to be from that era ... in fact so it the whole Kepi in general . But it maybe from a old uniform used during parades at the turn of the century ... IMHO , Woodstock
