i know of a few ship wrecks pacific north west as thats where i live.
i also know of one ship that hid thier treasure in depoe bay the departed and was never seen again
they took the gold and left the silver behind to fech later

There is actually a gun tool that looks similar to that. At first glance, it looked like it could have been the same. Below is a picture of an Austrian Musket gun tool which was used during the Civil War.

That the exact one that I saw in my book the morning I found this piece.

To me it look like some type of hammer.. possibly a homemade blacksmith's hammer. Small rectangle hole where used in nail making.
they put nail in the hole to flange the top.

looks like one of the tools a blacksmith would place in his anvil to shape metal, but its missing the rest of the top, imagine placing the hole end in a slot in the top of a anvil. good luck
