🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Civil war relic?

This was found on a civil war battlefield, I think it is an officers belt sash that had the two tassels coming out the bottom. It is gold plated. Measures about an 1"-1/2 x 1"-1/2. If anyone has any idea please let me know. Thank you.

Is there any chance of seeing it cleaned up more, also different angles?

Did they have adornments like that?
Wellll... it could be a few things... and yes... similiar...

First you have the sashes... then the aiguillettes... then the sword knots... then epaulettes (but this style would have been Indian war if so... i think)
I guess all could be applied here... to some degree...

This is not my "area" for sure... but I am familiar with some of them...

Granted... this would be something not of the norm if in fact it is CW.
Here's a good view of all the uniforms and there seems that there are very few examples of what your saying it could be.
You might like the adjoining page on the cannon styles.

I am just trying to apply the Op's item to CW... personally i have my doubts it is.

Yes its soaking at the moment to try and get the rest of the crud off. But I will post more pics once its cleaned up should be today. And thanks for all the replies!
