Hello all, I am brand new to the hobby and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for best Civil War areas to metal detect at within driving distance of Washington, DC? Thanks so much!

Welcome. Almost any place within 100 miles is a go. Getting permission is the problem. Google some of the battles, and then look especially for travel routes and campsites.
