Went early to a spot I have been hitting lately, (road tearout) guess there working overtime on it today.so I decided to go to our outdoor swapmeet, going thru a large box of books I found a old Bible from 1812 (Philadelphia print) thought it was cool and $15.00 price was right. When I got home I started looking thru it better and found a folded piece of paper inside. When I took it out I realized it was paper money, I think? Looks real and look is appropriate for the age. Can anyone help me on this if they know anything about paper money. If its real......

Great Piece -- But its not Civil War its THE WAR OF NORTHERN AGRESSION

Thanks for the link Mangum I was able to find a bill I have on there.

Cool find Ray.

Your bill is not hole punched so it may be worth more than the $100 asking price on the note posted! Congrats on the great find and a very nice piece of history!

Thanks, im very happy, I was expecting a love note or a recipe. Not at all this. Think I am going to look thru all my old books. ;)

Amazing find RayRay ! Wow, the Bible is awesome - the note is gorgeous ! Great day you had there !!! That is treasure hunting !!!
With all the info and research available at your fingertips online - you should be able to get a boatload of information about this note
even with the visible foldlines , you may have a real gem here ! I'd probably have it framed so it could be displayed on the wall !

You read my mind, going to get a frame tomorrow. I think it being folded kept it nicer, I just keep wondering how long actually it has been in there.

Great find and save.

Very cool piece of history..

If real , you found an awesome piece of history IMO . I would def, save it and learn as much about it as I could before letting go of it . The BIBLE is very nice as well. Davers

Reminds me of an OLD PAUL HARVEY story , Women dies leaves the grand son a Bible, in the will along with a comment to read it daily
Grandson , is all "P****d off grammy left him nothing of value
Grandson after keeping the bible for a year takes it to a book store and sells it for $10.00
A few years later an AUNT sees the grandson and asks Hows the bible doing Are you reading it like Grandmar told you to
He says " NO Never opened it , Sold it for $10.00
AUNT says too bad Granny had hidden 10 one hundered bills for you in it , as bookmarkers for her favorite passages

After looking into this more I am finding out that books were some peoples favorite safes.
