Civil War Hut Site Finds

So i went out the other day and dug a hut site out of the 50 or so that are there and i got about halfway through digging it before i had to head home lot of digging but it was worth it to me. If anyone could give me some advice on how to dig these out or how big they are and how deep i would appreciate it i know i didnt dig this one all the way out. Thanks Adam. Nice finds. You may need an in-hole pinpointer like a Bullseye-II from Whites. There are better ones but I have used mine for a while and it works well. I could not dig without it. It saves so much time and yield small holes--don't forget to cover and stomp them flat.

I sure hope that hole isn't an example of how big a hole you have to dig to recover one item? Just be sure to fill'em all in after you're done. Those are nice finds. If a hut, a latrine or outhouse should be close by and you will find all kinds of thing in one of those. And if you run out of anything else to dig, try to find the trash dump! Monty

Take a sifter along and find clay pipes and marples that you miss with your eyes.
