Found two NY Militia buttons and a round ball this morning while probing for some hut-sites in Stafford,Virginia.. Was hoping I could find a full coat of buttons. Maybe next time.

I live in culpeper VA and have just recently started digging hut sites/fire pits and am addicted to it. Since we are so close to one another maybe we can get together and look for some.

Sounds like a plan! I get together with a few members on here and go digging! Spending most of my time hunting in the Northern Neck (Essex,Richmond county, Northumberland) for non-cw relics lately. If your Civil War hunting with me just be prepared too wanna dig dig dig! but always need more MDers too hunt with who don't mind digging pits out. Hard work for one guy to do it! Send me a PM soonn, we can do it!

Great finds! ...and you never know. I did find almost a coat full of NY Militia buttons (11 matching ones) a few years back in a burn pit. There is hope.
