That alone makes a great day! Great find! I found one about two years ago. Mine was also missing the wreaths as well. If you can find that same hole again check it for the wreaths.

awesome! i dug one 2 years ago missing wreath as well.somebody told me it disintegrates under ground due to the chemical reaction between the 2 metals. :dontknow:

Awesome plate! Robert McDaniel worked on a pewter CSA buckle for my bro. We were NOT happy with the results. Maybe you should pick someone else to restore your plate.

Thats an awesome find ! To bad y'all couldent find the wreath. The way its bent like that I think its possible it fell off when it was bent....possibly by a farmers plow.I'll go back and find it for you and sell it to Coop so he can give it to you for Christmas. :laughing7: .....Terry/rip

The wreaths from those plates were not sterling silver. "German silver" was what they were made of (similar to what we'd call "pot metal"). Ground action has rotted it away, so there is nothing to find. I have never seen one dug with the wreath.

That's a great find!

Great find, I found one at some foundations last year, its a shame how the wreath gets chewed up in the soil, dont try to bend it back before having it looked at, id leave it the way it is.
congrats!!
