It looks like a Model 1851 Sword Belt Plate. Awesome find!!!
I agree but it looks a little different than other ones Ive seen. Congrats sis that's an awesome find :icon_thumleft:

Model 1851 Officers sword belt plate missing the applied silver wreath, as they often are when dug. A very nice find, congratulations! There are a few people that could restore it flat, if you get interested PM me and I'll direct you to them. They won't be able to restore the missing wreath though.

nice find!!!

Bravo. :hello2:
Great piece of CW history. Congrats to you.

I now know why it looked different, Yours has the early narrow tongue and like PinFire said its a model 1851 sword belt plate missing the wreath. It would have been worn by any Union enlisted man wearing a sword. :headbang:

Thats an awesome find ! To bad y'all couldent find the wreath. The way its bent like that I think its possible it fell off when it was bent....possibly by a farmers plow.I'll go back and find it for you and sell it to Coop so he can give it to you for Christmas. :laughing7: .....Terry/rip

Awesome sword plate! That is definitely on my wish list.
