Here's the second helping for your viewing pleasure. Kindafoundabuckle, Metal Detective, and I got together to hunt our campsite again this weekend. Here are just the highlights:

I think we had picked most of our previous area clean, but I tore around through the wooded area (wearin' myself out!) and managed to snag a great dropped .69 cal. 2-ring bullet. Quite a beauty, and one of the rarer types.

We then went to another area and Kindafoundabuckle and Metal Detective started digging bullets right away. Fired minieballs, a tiny flat button, and carved lead for Metal Detective and two nice 3-ring .69 cal bullets for KFBuckle.

The biggest surprise on the hunt was a hunk of silver! KFBuckle got this great signal only a few inches deep near a plowed field. You should have seen the happy dance he did while on all fours in front of the hole! I knew it had to be good to get him that excited. When we got over there, this is what we saw:

A beautiful 1908-D Barber Quarter just laying there in the sun in the top of the hole!

This was a great hunt, great friendship, and interesting finds. I love huntin' with you guys! I hope we can do it again soon. Here are some photos of other finds from the campsite, including that great brass wedding band KFBuckle unearthed last weekend. Enjoy!

Oh, and KFBuckle found this interesting little thin brass buckle. Any info on this item would be much appreciated. We're pretty certain it's Civil War era.

They don't call you buckle boy for nutin', buckleboy! That's a great group of artifacts. It's nice to see Tnetters getting together and hunting.

Nice looking barber! :o

Hey Metal Detective, maybe it won't be KFBuckle that digs the next old silver coin! I'm gonna try my darndest. We'll miss you dearly on this hunt, but it is a construction site and I don't think it can wait. Gotta get it while the gettin's good! Stay tuned!
