Hello fellow diggers,
Found these this afternoon on our farm in Western Orangeburg County in SC. I know the harmonica parts but what is the canteen top?, the button, or the eagle thing. The top two items are lead. The item above the quarter shows a little gold gilt. The rest of the items are brass. Thanks in advance for your help.

Based on the finding of harmonica parts, regardless of the site, I am convinced that every union/confederate soldier must have been issued one when he mustered in. Welcome to the Army, here's your harmonica..........

here's your harmonica.......so....grab a handfull while you're here and when you get to camp, you can break'um apart and toss them around all over gods creation.....

the confedrate harmonica playing artillary man had just finished having a drink of water and had broke out his harmonica to sit on a stump to play a bit --when out of the bushes sprang a union "harmonica hating" soldier weilding a "union eagle motiff" banjo --- he swung the banjo hitting the canteen and breaking boththe banjo eagle off the banjo and the canteen neck as well -- the confderate returned fire slinging the harmonica at the union trooper --it hit the union troopers pocket watchand broke both items to bits . during the the fighting a button popped of the confedrates uniform -- --after both of them breaking their musical gear --they left in disgust -- it is known today as the first "battle of the bands"
