I have been hunting an area being bull dozed for a new housing development. It was the site of a very large civil war camp. The area I have been hitting, I have been finding Eagle A buttons. Someone else found a cannon ball. We figure it was an area camped by an artillery group. I found these two items and was wondering if it was related to this artillery group.

Your second item looks like whats left of a spade or shovel. the pointed part was surrounded by the wooden handle.

That's interesting. I have no idea on the first item. Looks shell related. I agree with shovel or diggin tool

Part of a curry comb.

Hey Taz, that does look like it. Given all the horse shoes, and some spurs that we have found in the same area, that could very well be. Maybe they kept the horses in that area. Thanks.

If you clean the round item opposite the lead side you may find markings.
The old scale wieghts had a hole to add lead to adjust the wieght .
Even the lead was somtimes marked by the official tester.
