Happy Dancin Happy Dancin..Me and my metal detecting buddy Dyrty went out to an old Fort site in my hometown today. It was built by the Union when they took over our town during the Civil war. I live in Natchez if you don't know. Anyway we were walkin the wood line in an old trench and bang. Solid 60-65 on My F75. It read 6 inches...I dug down and out popped this beauty. Still has the shank intact and is a big button. Looks to be overcoat size. I am scared to clean it to id it more. I just ran some water on it. It appears to have a C inside this shield. Is it a Cavalry overcoat button?? I am not for sure...Can someone with more Civil war knowledge help me out. I don't have a book to id this baby..Plus I am nervous as a cat. But happy as a lark. Any help would be appreciated. Plus I found some more stuff I am gonna post later. Thanks..
