What a day! My partner and I hit the place that we found all the goodies last week with no new treasures so we went to the local high school. No biggies other than a Civil War bullet that my partner found. Since the grandson had been so good that day we decided to take him to a park and let him play while we hit the tot lots. So off we went. We only had an hour or so left in the day so I hit one lot and my partner hit a wooded area adjacent to one of the lots.

After about 20 mins I wandered over to where he was and he halfway whispered, "I just found two Civil War bullets". I about died. This park has been POUNDED TO DEATH by every MDer in the area. I started looking in the general area of where he was and finally found one. After finding that one I moved over to another location but still couldn't find a second one. So then I just looked around and found a tree that I thought I would be either hiding behind or sitting by (many years ago) and headed in that direction. Sure enough, just before I got to the tree I got a heavy hit. Long story short, I found 15 bullets in a 6 ft area and my partner found 8 bullets in the same general area. We were ecstatic! We couldn't have done better if we had gone down to Chattanoogna and hunted.

I know that there are more there but we've got a plan. My buddy up in Pennsylvania who has never found a Civil War bullet will be down in a few weeks. And then my partner's brother has never found one either. So we are going to take the both of them over there and let them go for it, while my partner and I hit the surrounding area for buttons and such. It should be interesting. Wish us all luck and we'll keep you posted.

Can someone identify the metal (what appears to be copper) part that is wrapped around the second bullet from the left at the top. It appears that none of these bullets had been fired and a couple of them had this metal "casing" around them. That particular bullet is the only one that I could keep intact. Thanks for any info ahead of time.

Fantastic hunt! That is what it is all about.

Congrats on your bullets. I found some bullets in a park in Knoxville a couple years ago that was not too far from the battle of Fort Sanders. My best civil war park finds were here in my home town of Morristown. I found some bullets, US rosette, buckle and a nice gold gilted button.

Nice pile of lead !

Cool

Very Cool ...It seems that sometimes even in [well hunted] areas there are sometimes small areas,or even single relics that folks have missed over the years. I like to think they were waiting for me:laughing7: Be sure and tell your buddies that once they dig their first CW bullet they will have to have more. & As for the Copper disc on one of the Minies " I " have never seen that done before , I would like to see if anyone else has see it done before , are the is the piece clamped to the minie somehow or pinned into the lead sides? . Good Job .

The metal might be the remains of a cartridge case. Black powder salts do a lot of damage to copper/brass cases in the ground, eating them
up pretty badly.

nice lead Teamroper. Could you give us measurements?, that would help ID them. Mic the length and width, and the base depth if possible.

Cant tell but they may be carbine bullets, those type had brass casings. Spencers, sharps, etc.

I will try to get some measurements in the next few days. Gonna go back over there tonight after work. LOL.
