Microscope Just put your camera setting on Macro. That is what you use for close ups.

the back is just the same as the front in reverse its a saddle buckle but from what regiment or unit

What little I can see of it shows a riding crop and hunting horn. That isn't a military thing. Likely from someones saddle horse gear and it doesn't look very old to me. Perhaps from a fox hunters gear. A good photo of the complete item might help.

how did it attach? i see no signs of anything? a buckle has moving parts.
