I hit the river with HomeGuardDan today and we both did very well. Here are most of my interesting finds...

You probably don't realize how true that is. That's another reason I tether my machine. I've had to drop it several times in a struggle to get back to air. It's a nice feeling when you realize you are still alive and going to make it, plus you havn't lost your metal detector!
 

Not sure about that. It appears to be broken on the hole end. The other end has been deformed by beating with a hammer I think. I suppose it some sort of latch. I have seen similar latches on the old train cars.

Probably is some kind of latch. Anyway, best of luck in the water.
