Civil War barrel loop

Just wanted to post this barrel loop I dug the other day out of a trash pit where my eagle breast plate was found - went back to the spot this afternoon and finished digging it out but didn't get nothing but a few rivets, 1 smashed up eagle button and two 3 ringers.. No more plates in it which is a bummer but that is how it goes, carried this loop out of the woods about a half mile.. Got some other things going on in my life now so i probably won't be digging for civil war relics for a month or so... H.H> everyone...

Oh btw.. if you dig one of these CW barrel loops in the ground you need to dig the hole out where you found it or a few feet next to it, more then likely it is a trash pit or a barrel that was used for trash...

I like that, Hut! Don't see whole ones coming out of the ground very often .. lots of pieces, but whole ones are few and far between.

Interesting idea about there could be more items as it could be used as a trash barrel or a pit near by. The cats thinking it's nothing though.

NICE ,So that's what that is I believe I have a whole one [ or most of it] in the garage made of copper? I thought it & others [pieces] I have dug were used for bailing cotton ,hay or whatever ,they are FRAGILE and hard to store or display and carry out of the woods while holding everything else ,machine .shovel & in the heat of summer a small carry bag with extra water.snacks small shovel, extra gloves ,OFF + dug items also its good & bad to find glass wares or anything heavy like ax heads and alike with a backpack & the cell phone blowing up [wife calling] while your trying to walk. Sorry for the rant, I just had a bad flashback .
