Citizens Applaud Defeat of Firearms Ban in Massachusetts

Obama and the Democrats in Congress would have us believe most Americans are for “sensible” restrictions on the Second Amendment. A town meeting in Massachusetts on Wednesday night, however, turned this assumption on its head.

A majority of people attending a town hall meeting in Westford, Massachusetts, responded to the withdrawal of an assault weapons ban by city government with thunderous applause and a standing ovation.

Vice Chairman of the Board of Selectmen Robert Jeffries was surprised by the reaction. “I thought there would be a [negative] reaction,” he told WBZ-TV in Boston. “But I also thought maybe some other towns in Massachusetts might have also tried something similar and none of them did. So it left us isolated as the only ones.”

The NRA’s David Keene responded to the decision with the organization’s standard middle-of-the-road defense of the Second Amendment and the Bill of Rights.

“One of the things that people in these town meetings and other folks ought to look at is the constitution itself. It is possible and it is legal to put certain restrictions on second amendment rights,” he said, “but those kinds of restrictions have to be looked at very critically.”

Another victory for the second amendment....

It is possible and it is legal to put certain restrictions on second amendment rights

Maybe you folks should listen to your friends at the NRA. They seems to have read and understand the constitution. Best.

Just an observation but the LOCAL Level is the way to focus any action --- In My state a local organization is much more effective than any national organization, the reasoning is that local elected officials have much more contact with the local population that national elected officials , I see my state rep in the supermarke or at community functions They cant hide as much as national reps ---- Or as TIP O Niel said ----" all politics is local " Thats where to focus Great Job up there proves my point

Just keep fighting each battle, lose one than we win the next one, keep writting your reps in congress, keep the pressure on them, let everyone you meet know you are not willing to surrender you rights no matter what the left says.............I have recruited 3 more to join the NRA this week so far.......

We have already compromised all we are going to compromise...... I have also contacted the NRA to tell them do not give another inch.....

Here is my compromise, keep you hands off the 2nd amendment P_E_R_I_O_D!

Why aren't you folks supporting real 2nd amend orgs like gun owners of America or national assoc of gun owners. At least the are willing to take a stand and aren't in the pockets of big biz. Just a suggestion.

Have not looked into other orgs.very far. While other programs exist within, hunters safety has been cause N.R.A. has long been a champion in. One the club i,m in is involved in. Youth learning safe handling of fire arms and ethics of hunting. Todays c.c.w. instructors that i know of are certified by N.R.A. too,not a position taken lightly. There is a political branch, don,t quote me but i think the funding is through I.L.A. and not from general group, regardless, what i,ve heard of other groups its only championing ownership. Guess i,m just content with involvement seen for many decades. Some clubs and shoots membership required.

Wanna take bets on how many of their 20,000 population will be at the D.C. march to back up their fellow gun lovers? I'll say about as many as go from Tnet.
