Cincinnati Bar Token

Anybody ever see this token or similar barrel style before? Joe’s Cafe 2513 Vine Street. Cincinnati bc that’s where it was found. Also interested to know the approximate date on it. Thanks in advance.

What a cool token find! The token catalog ref. found by Dave dates it to about 1940. I think "Joe" was a man named "Joseph Valent." This newspaper story from 1936 makes mention of his cafe at that address - though they call it "Valent's" cafe." I think it could be the same operation as Joe's Cafe. Maybe a name change or just how the place was commonly known.

There was also a August Zimmer at that same address. who sold "wine by the glass" (pursuant to a permit).

Another source reads: Zimmer'sWine Company of Cincinnati pressed about 30,000 gallons of winefrom grapes purchased from the Lake Erie islands before the deathof August Zimmer in 1964.
