That was the text I sent to Cjon455 and NePa Will as I pulled out of my drive this morning and the rain started pretty hard. There had been a very light mist just 10 minutes before. Just my luck!

" Just found OD Nick and LC at one of those houses outside M___________ lol " read the text I sent them 2 hours and 38 minutes later!
Some may not know, but Carolina Tom and Tylerbdad have been teasing me ever since I made the mistake of telling them I had never found a silver war nick. They even carried on the task of renaming them " OD nickels " lol and begged everyone to only refer to them as that. Well, gentlemen, you can rest easy now...

For months now I've been wondering why everyone was calling them OD nickles....

Grats on your find and may the next "first" be someting like a spanish 8 reale. OR...along the same signal, may your next war nickle turn out to be a gold ring!

I have 15 war nickles this year. I'm usually get a half dozen or so per year.

When I found it, I saw it was nickel sized and had that whitish glow of dug silver. The obverse and reverse were both still packed with mud but I put it in my pouch and texted Will and Chris with the news. Chris said for me to send him a pic. I started panicking then thinking " uh oh. What if it isn't a war Nick ".

I think it was last year that a neighbor of a property owner beckoned me over to the fence separating the properties. He was a detectorist from back when machines didn't discriminate. He was amazed that I never used disc. Thanks for the good words George.

congrats on the war nickel they can be elusive. I had 13 by August and have olny found 3 more since and I dig nickel signals. Many more to come for sure now that the ice is broken
