Beautiful mid-60's breezy day in the NE woods. The trees have sucked the moisture out of the forest floor making life tough on the ticks. If you stay out of the brush and away from the waterholes the going is good. Found my 6th Chinese cash in four years of detecting, all at separate sites. This one is the most worn. The dense brush and ticks are keeping me out of the best areas of this farm site. Come February 1st in the cold after deer season I know it's going to yield some nice artifacts. Seeing plenty of horse shoes and big iron pieces like strap hinges, rose spikes, and pot frags.

Walking to my site I stopped to look over some erosion points above a stream bank for arrowheads. Came upon a three foot Black Racer snake sunning in a coil, probably waiting for frogs. My face was the same height and it surprised us both. The most impressive snake we have in my area, a non-venomous constrictor that's elusive. I couldn't believe how fast this snake shot away, thus the racer!

Nice finds. I’m guessing NE is New England rather then Nebraska. ?

It looks like you are on the right path. The signs are good. Let's hope for a kettle point and a Massachusetts silver coin when the weather cools!
