I pretty much agree with what's been posted already. As an oriental artifacts collector, one has to be careful about Chinese artifacts. The Chinese have a long history (thousands of years) of counterfit artifacts of all types and it depresses the value of genuine pieces. I generally only buy what I find attractive and don't expect to get a substantial resale unless it has an intrinsic value (i.e. gold, silver, ivory, ect.). There are a number of porcelain marks identification sites on the web. So check out the marks, if it is a significant mark, see if there is a Chinese porcelain expert at your local museum who would look at it for you or someone they can refer you to. Good luck, but don't be dissapointed if it's barely worth a garage sale price.
