It's a big problem in Asia as company's copy everything. I just went to a funeral of young women. That drank distilled Alcohol that was mixed with methanol was part of group that was poisoned. While incident did not happen in China. It is was factor in understanding that companies from Asia produce a product however dodgy and have no repercussions. Just asked the Chinese about their baby formula.
China is desperate for foreign sales. Yet world is slowly turning its back on them. Their domestic economy is crashing. China has cut rare earth to us because of trade tariffs. China is dumping cheap steel all around the world. And now flooding the world with cheap evs.
While Australia has lots of rare earth minerals. The problem is processing them as per the problems I posted before. They just cannot compete with economies of scale in what demand there is.
China is manipulating the metal markets. They have a cheap processing plant in Indonesia that has all but collapsed nickel prices in the west we cannot compete.

As much as I hate the CCP . The average Chinese person just wants the same as we do. A good living food on the table and future for their family. When we are fed up of our politician we can vote therm out of office. You cannot do that in North Korea. China, Russia, Iran and Syria because they are run by dictators.
China economy is house of cards. The CCP desperate attempt to ward off further sanctions from US and EU. They are seeing what is happening in Russia? The Russian economy is taking a massive hit. China productivity is collapsing. The CCP is using rare earth as bargaining tool.
China tried with Australia cut off Australia supply iron ore, coal, lobsters wine barley etc. It blew up in their face. Australia sold for same price to India and some Arab countries that doubled the price and sold it to China.
Yet we have alternatives we ourselves are going to be feeling the cost of living rising. Its happening around the free world. We had enjoyed the last 20 years reaping the benefit of low inflation and cheap goods from China. It hammered our local manufacturing base because we could not work for 2 dollars and hour.
Now decoupling from the global economy is going to have a cost. Just like China is paying the price now.
The US federal government currently has $36.17 trillion in federal debt. Where is money coming from to develop and rare earth industry. And even if they did Australia dollar is lower and everything is ready to go can do it cheaper but never as cheap as China.
I see a perfect business opportunity to upscale rare earth processing in Australia with mining and processing. They have ports, infrastructure and facilities all there in place and the mines. The only problem they do not use slave labor to process it. Therefore its going to cost us more.

You know rare Earth production is easy nowadays. You just fly out to the asteroid belt, find what you're looking for specifically and bring it back and drop it in lake Superior or lake Huron, seen it with my own eyes last November.

China has been dumping crappie iron / steel on us for well over 50 years! I've personally seen it ! We bought some 3/8 x 6 x 20 ft. plate steel and when you would cut it in half , the steel would blow out a large slag seem right across the middle of this material ! This JUNK STEEL is Not useable or even structurally safe to use !! My fault ! I should of asked before we bought it ! NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!
