Just bought my first tumbler. How the F do you gain access to the inside of the barrels? Instructions are USELESS!! Thanks for any help

Grab the threaded stem and pull. I have the same tumbler.

I use fish aquarium gravel with no color. Works great. There's a good liquid mix to use with it. If I find it I'll reply it.

Works better if you pull on the threaded rod and push the barrel lip out with your thumb at the same time .

I can't find the container, but it is 1/4"x1/4"x1/4" pyramid shape media. They are light green in color and work very well on coins. I believe I purchased both at harbor freight.

At least 8hrs or over night, then rinse. Some coins come out looking brand new and some will need to tumbled longer. It really depends on how much they are corroded. You will get a feel for it after a couple of batches.

I've had mine a long time. Hold the barrel in both hands and push the sides outward with your thumbs. Sometimes it really sticks. Be sure to oil the roller bearings occasionally.

I just bought one. I use aquarium gravel, salt, lime juice and a touch of dawn, I run it two hours and it cleans great.

I learned this 2 years ago from loco digger fill half way with lemon juice and 3 tbl spoons salt for about 30 minutes do pennies seperate trust me this works great

You really need about a shot glass of lime juice and a table spoon of salt with a little dawn soap. Fill the number just enough to cover the rock and stones. Works great for me.

Was thinking about buying one of these tumblers for my son he wants to do rock but I plan on also using it for coins and stuff which do you think is better the single or double barrel tumbler

Get the double...you don't want to mix the pennies with the other coins.

Yea, the double is the best way to go.

As far as elixers and all these things to help clean it....I used to use Gravel, and many other things mentioned on here.

The reality is you need NOTHING!

I use just water and sometimes throw in a small piece of an old scour pad and the coins come out completely clean with no issues.

I have had the same Chicago tumbler for the last 7 years and it works like new to this day. Keep it clean, because the part that will corrode is around the bolt. I use a drop or so of oil in my water to keep the metal from corroding.
