Hey folks I've posted this before (knife / scraper)

I have found similar pieces maybe not so well formed but also have has this same smooth "finger" channel in them. (thumb in this case)

Does anyone know if that is a natural break and they work around it or is it formed?

That is just a piece that comes from knapping and no the channel as you call it, is from reduction of a larger piece.

Thank you sir! that explains many chert pieces I have found. :occasion14:

but none the less useful...i have many pieces that find my hand or finger tips "just right"...it seems that the right material makes some freakishly perfect thumb/finger marks.
