There looks to be faded artwork on this... Clearly though I see the words Cherokee Indian reservation N.C. on the side.
Found with turn of the 20th century items..site has newer things on top but this was fairly deep.

actaully possible that it is complete tobacco pipe....google it...tobacco was a very valuable commodity in the region it was found.sample pipes were used to determine quality.looks like one of those to me

Yeah... Thin brass with a coating of some kind on the middle exterior..with some faded designs like painting under it.

What I think is the top looks like it used to have a cover that was made of a "gold" foil

Thanks.. Seems like whatever image is on it is slowly becoming more visible as it starts to completely dry out
