Tried hard to find a Medieval hammered but failed ::)

First picture is buttons from both fields.

2nd picture is the AM hunt - 1846 Shilling, blank silver coin, Roman Key handle, 6 scrappies.

3rd & 4th picture is PM hunt on a different field - Clothes fastener, possible piece of roman silver coin, nice lead cloth seal.

I found a RARE Celtic Silver Unit of Cunobelin AD20 (picked it off the surface). Dad had this type last year & it was recorded as the 27th, the below site now says thats theres about 30 recorded. ;D

Mine must be a £150 coin :)

To right, if I had his land I would take up fishing again :D

Amazing - truely amazing. Well done Cru! - have you detected that field before and are any more Celtic finds likely?

This field was the one which had the Archie survey on it. The bottom area of the field is where all the Archaeology was found with the Geophysicial survey. However this was all roman & we knew this already as we had plotted many roman finds in this area. The middle section on the slope had no archaeology & we had only given it a little bit of a search. We were doing this area which has very little in it, as we have few options at this time & we like to cover everywhere including bad areas. This find shows why we do this. Its very unlikely to have any other finds that are Celtic as the nearest round houses are some fields away. Its the only Celtic item to come from this field. We will of course (in time) cover the rest of the middle section & the upper section at a later date (when desperate).

Have you done your trip yet?

Not yet - my trip starts in three weeks. If all goes well, and there's no reason why it shouldn't, I hope it to be the first of many trips to Europe and that part of the world. Doing some detecting in Merry Olde England is high on my list of detecting destinations and after watching at least two dozen episodes of Time Team in the last few weeks whets the appetite for discovery even more.

hey crusader, that is just gods way of saying here's a freebie, keep up the good work.
nice finds as usual.

Welcome to Tnet. Whats it like to detect in your country?

Great find...that needs to be on the banner!!!

Maybe, only due to rarity rather than value. However, I've had my fair share & I'm hoping this year to make the banner with something even more special. My confidence with my XP is at an all time high. We didn't reach this many Roman coins (100) until Aug of last year & at this rate my hammered count will beat last years by the middle of the year! Bring on the Harvest & the good fields, I'm ready to hoover

I have no forgiveness of God ... do not answer the first question for mi in T-NET.
P.D:
Who was CONSTANTINVS? ??? :laughing9:

Like it or not, it should still be a banner, if not for rarity then for historical significance. It's a great find, even if it's not a medieval hammered!

It don't get better then that :headbang: great find the detail is unreal for that old Good hunt  Jim

Stunning Surface Find !
Congrats on the condition, My surface finds have been in worse condition than comparable dug ones.
Best Digs

1990 years old compared to our 200 year old ::) Just amazing how much you find over there Cru :notworthy: I think we all dream about detecting in Europe and the UK. That's where it all began, or did it ??? Looks like another Banner year for you and your Dad. HH, Ron

You know, I do have to say, you blocking that Jefferson nickle with that old piece of silver is a crime. I mean, how often do you get a 1964 Jefferson nickle? Hehehehe :laughing7:
Once again...nice find and thanks for sharing.
