Hello

Look what i found. Well,i found it on my favorite hunting spot some time ago but i didnt take attention on it. When i found my first celtic silver and try to ID it, i coincidentaly found some samples of ring money. Than i remember that some time ago i found similar ring. I was hoping that i didnt throw it away...and find it :) and now its time to take a close look. I scratch it a bit (i cant resist ;D). Well, the picture are not perfect (because of cloudy weather) but i can see a gold-like yellow color. It measures 3.3 cm and its pretty heavy! Could it be? Any help is welcome.

Regards

Yes, it is interesting, most of all that PBK and Ant are pointing that its a fake. I wonder guys, if you find a ring like this in area like i hunt, let me say - there, where an old Celt long time ago sleept and farted, directly near old house foundation (2400 years old)...how would you feel about this? ...what is this? A Celtic ring money? Oh no,no way, cant be...

Whoa! Easy there, Templar! I'm not saying anything about it one way or the other... just passing along a link that I think is worth a look. I have no idea whether your find is an authentic example of Celtic ring money or not; however, as you say, it was made at a site which would seem to support that possibility. I'll be more than happy to remove my post if you like— but it certainly wasn't intended to offend.

Best regards,
PBK

I'm not saying or insinuation that it's fake either. I was pointing out features or evidence that I see as to it's manufacture. I know nothing about money rings so I can't make a statement like that.

From the photo I can confidently say that it's not gold and has cast flashing or a extruded ring around it from being formed in a press or hammer die.
