This could not of worked out any better! It rained on Saturday & it was a lovely windy cool day for what is our LAST CHANCE to detect this field before harvest. Conditions were perfect & something happened that has never happened to me. We normally call a early silver in the hunt 'the kiss of death'. Well I dug a Celtic Gold on my 'first dig', I couldn't believe how deep it was, over 8 inches & I was thinking deep shotgun shell.
This must be the end of my personal mega roll over the last 4 hunts, my highlights have been;
3 Roman Silver, Hammered, Celtic Gold, Celtic Silver, Celtic Bronze!
We finished gridding the edge of the site in 5 hours 15 minutes;
Boar's tooth
Livery Button
17th C Token
11 Roman Bronze Coins
3 Roman Fibula (Brooches) - One type that I need, the upper part of a 1st C AD Roman Brooch of the 'Lion Bow Derivative'
Ring Bezel
Roman Hair-pin
Celtic La Tene III Brooch
Hammered Penny of Ed I, Bristol Mint (Only our 2nd of this mint, this being the better one)
Roman Silver Siliqua of Honorius (Our last Emperor to rule Britain)
GOLD Celtic Qter Stater of Cunobelin circa AD 15.
