Man I wish we had the amount of wooded cellar holes here in NJ. The farm fields are great but the fertilizer does a number on most of our finds. I'd love to camp out at some of those cellar holes you have pics of. Great finds.

Because Most Of The Fields Have Been Farmed Since The 1700S. The Farmers Would Lose Change,Buttons,Etc. While Working The Fields.

And not just the farmers. Their kids, wives, neighbors, hired labor, soldiers, slaves... And if the farm was passed down for generations or sold to new farmers, the process restarts.

Excellent stuff. Sweet half cent, and a beautiful train button. Like the cartwheel too. I bet that's what it is. Not too many coins that size and thickness.

Congrats,

Buck

Oh yeah... Found a beaut of a spot. The train button is sweet. I love picture buttons. Great finds...

I am free as a bird up here..

I'm gonna have to take you up on that offer before the woods fill in again. How longs the drive from NJ?

Taking 95 you can get here in 4 1/2 hours:icon_thumleft:

I too have always wanted to camp out in an area with many Cellar Holes...

Hey Jim the ground is frozen..Well at least the fields and grass..

But you can hunt the woods year round the layers of leaves act as insulation..It never freezes all the way just requires a little more muscle:headbang:

Congrats on the nice looking coppers, and pictures. Looking at the sizing of the Cartwheel a 2P would be 2oz. 41mm and a 1P would be 28.3gr. 36mm all had the 1797 date but were struck for a number of years. Either way a nice find as they're not all that common on this side of the pond.

Nice finds, next time I'm up visiting my Dad, maybe we can get together for a hunt. I know of an old foundary, but not sure if it is private property now due to the suburban sprawl.

nice location eand finds:hello2:

You've definitely found some great coins and relics. Every time I see an old copper with detail, it makes me want to get back out and hunt some more! I bet your button would be fought over by the RR enthusiasts. There are quite a group of collectors here in Pa. Thanks for your pics.
