Hello all. Got out to an old cellar hole today. My first time at this one. The finds were good. First hole I dug was a flat button, Then a short time later got what I think is a shield nickel. Getting up I noticed the arm cup on my explorer was broken. So swung the rest of the day with the whole right side of my arm cup gone. That was a work out. Anyway picked up the British 3 pence, and the indian a couple feet apart. Got alot of musket balls, and what I think is a heel plate and part of a thimble maybe? Will be back there soon, before the ticks show themselves. Thanks for looking.

P.S. Still looking for a mintage number on the 3 Pence if anyone should know.

A cellar hole is where an old house or structure once stood. Usualy just the rocks they used for the foundation left.

Thanks Nova!

Nice! you sure thats not a 2 center?

Yep positive its not a 2 center. Too small. :icon_thumright: Not much left of it though. Cant find a date on it, probably never will.

Thats the only way I'll get a key date coin. :laughing7: But it does stink.

I found a similar-looking Shield Nickel last year here in NH. I was able to narrow it down to 1866 or 1867 because it had rays on the back. By any chance, does yours have rays?

Cellar hole was a good stop and your next should be with Jeff from North GA! (for a metal arm rest)

Super finds! Great looking 3 pence & heal plate.
I broke the arm cup on my Silver Umax last year too. Man, what a pain trying to swing like that. :(
Congrats,
MM

Backs worse then the front. I was hoping for a little detail. But it's a lost cause. Thanks for all the kind words all. :)
