I also posted this in todays finds but thought I might get more info here. I found this on an old army base that's now civilian residence. It was about 9in. deep in original ground. The base dates back to the late 1880's. Unfortunately one of the numbers is gone (I looked and looked but couldn't find it) so I don't know if it's the 10th calvary company D or 11th or 12th, etc. Any info on this would be appreciated. It was found in Illinois. Thanks for reading. P.S. It's about 2 inches long. I also forgot to mention that this base was home to the 7th cavalry but this pin is definately not that.

I found out from a 100 year old book I bought on the history on my area That a squardron of the 15th Cavalry was garrisoned at this base back then so ID solved. Thanks for reading.

Good on you Mate.
Firstly for finding the badge and double whammy, ID'ing it.
That is an awesome find. I like the mystery of the missing numeral :icon_scratch:

Thanks for your kind words. It was exciting to find. I almost forgot that I had that book tucked away.
