Great coins. Love the liberty cap and of course the Spanish silvers! Congrats, and keep up the good work!

The square piece I'm pretty sure is a gold bullion counterweight from the 17th century...king James era pilgrims era... Found near 2nd settlement in MA

Is it marked in any way? I've found one coin weight/apothecary weight which was marked, and Brokenknee has one from the 1500's found in Western Mass, also with markings. If it is marked, someone on here will be able to help you date it.

It's not marked, that I can see.. And was found at low tide in the mud...close to where Thomas Weston and company landed in MA (2nd settlement of the pilgrims of Plymouth). Ill get better pics of that piece when my niece gets home.

Cool beyond words. :icon_thumleft:

Awesome finds man. I have yet to find some old large cents. Do they signal in the same spot as a modern penny?

Congrats on a very cool find. That is definately one of the biggest Large Cent spills posted here ....plus a couple of Reales !!! Great stuff !

Wtg.Congrats.HH.

Wow, what a nice coin spill. Just goes to show how long those Spanish coins kept circulating after the US mint opened.

love all the finds, but i honestly think the counterweight is my fav. just dont see those much!

WOW! Pardon me while I wipe the drool off my screen.

Great coin spill! Good condition considering they were in salty mud.
Did you also dig a few steamers from the muck for dinner? That would be my kind of a hunt! Coins and clams!
