Looks like my lucky string of hunts where I was making an exceptional find just about every time out has come to an end (hopefully temporarily). Looks like for now I've settled into digging relics of a more routine nature (flat buttons, bullets, buckle pieces, etc), and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I guess I'm going to need to find a couple new sites before the season wraps up here in the next few weeks. With the warm winter the weeds are already growing in the fields and planting will begin earlier than normal, so I'd better get myself in gear so I can finish strong down the home stretch. Good luck and HH to all.

I would be happy with that, nice finds. What is the round thing to the left of the thimble with the 10 tabs on? I have dug a couple of them before.

Its a parasol or umbrella centerpiece. These are commonly found in CW camps and period homesites.
Aww Bill, I was hoping to be the first to ask about these things :(
Love to see people ask about them, often the first whatsits a detectorist finds.
all those other bits are great site indicators.
That 'IM' stamped item also piques my interest, looks early.
Neat hunt, I'd be pleased with that group of oldies!
Best wishes & HH, Herbie :hello:

Some nice early buttons there Bill. I am sure another coin or 2 will be uncovered before the season ends. See you soon.

Hi Roland,
When I started finding these, not knowing what they were, I should have thought of the item you described, I have used enough of them
They are a really close match exept for metallic composition.
HH! Herbie.

Some very interesting finds, now if you could just put the puzzle pieces together, nice digging.
