I would guess its part of a cast iron trivet. They came in all shapes and sizes.

It looks like it has cogs on it, and the curved slot on the top .. I am thinking it is part of a piece of farm equipment.

I don't think those are cogs. I think they are letters. I can see the letter 'A' right in the middle. Better pics will tell the story.

My Bad!! I see it now that I look a lot closer .. as he pointed out, it says MARK. Thanks Matt!
