Hello,

I was gem hunting for Carnelian at one of the creeks I go to in central NJ and found this piece of low grade carnelian that looks like it's some sort of scraper. I've found similar artifacts at another creek a few miles away, but I'm not positive on this one. The one edge does look to have been worked, at least to me. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It is a worked tool, and I'd agree with a scraper and its extremely nice.

Thanks! I figured it was worked, but I'm new to artifacts, so I'm still learning!

If you like this one, check out the 2 I found a few weeks ago in the post I've linked below! I've been on a roll lately! Never found any up until about a year ago, but since i found my first one by accident while looking in a creek for fossils, I've found 8 for sure with a few others that I'm not sure about.

Here's the link to my other post with the 2 nice artifacts made from semi-precious stones. You have to scroll down a ways to see the pics of the really nice one... http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/n...ntral-new-jersey-carnelian-thumb-scraper.html

Thanks again for your help!
