Got out to the same site I've been hitting and while I wasn't able to find any buttons or coins this trip I still made out with some cool finds. First one is this old REM-UMC brass shell casing. Its interesting because a couple trips ago I found a UMC 10A casing. Its neat because UMC is one of the oldest manufacturers of shotgun casings and they eventually merged with remington I believe in the late 1800s. So a little shell history which is cool because I am a remington fan myself.

I also believe that these are brass cufflinks? they don't have a design or anything on them so I'm not entirely sure. Also found what looks to be a civil war era carbine buckle and yet another mystery lead tool/ornament. Not sure that it had any functional use and a brass rivet with some leather still on it. Found another pewter handle and flattened out pewter spoon, old wedge, stake and other random bits of things.

Not sure about the buckle being for a rifle sling, only because most are brass, but I don't see why it couldn't be? Does seem to be the right size and looks like it had two tounges? Nice digs.

Yea I've only seen brass buckles as a reference to carbine buckles, but haven't found any other buckles with 2 tongues other than a rifle buckle.

I think some early haversacks buckles are similar too, but again the two tounge's are throwing me off. Its probably a sling buckle for a rifle imo.
