Cap and Key

I found a National Drug & Chemical Company of Canada - Shaving Stick cap earlier today. I found it near an old school that was changed into a church.

I also found an old key which has a "MPS" key chain emblem attached to it? I don't really know what that thing is. I'm trying to figure it out. Any ideas?

I showed it to a friend and he said it's a badge from a police cap or hat.

It makes sense and the monogrammed badge is not a part of the key. The stem on the back of the badge that would be pushed through one of those round things to affix it to some fabric is what's holding the key in place.
