Got back for two hours this morning to a couple of fields I started hunting last year. I’ve been waiting for the soybeans to be harvested and last Wednesday they were. These fields have produced some interesting finds for me. The hunt started out slowly and it wasn’t until I moved over to the east field that I finally made my first find… a WWI Canadian Hat Badge! My next find was a heavy brass cast horse bell. It was cold and windy this morning, temperature was 40F and the ground was frozen where the sun hadn’t touched it yet.

The farmer came by an hour after I started detecting to turn the fields, so when he stopped we had a nice 15min chat. He was kind enough to give me some of the history of this c1860 15-acre farm. He will be planting winter wheat next week, so I’ll likely head back there on Monday before he replants.

Thanks for looking,
Dave

Very nice and interesting relic, Dave. Just wanted to say your new avatar looks good too!

Thanks for your post Dave!
I don't think I'll be finding anything like these any time soon, so this avatar will likely be around for a while! :laughing7:

Take care buddy,
Dave

Sweet find!

Thanks!
