I mainly search parks and schools for coins and jewelry and with the 10” stock coil, it’s not ideal for areas of heavy trash. I don’t need to go real deep as most of my hunting locals are modern era sites and shallow targets.

I was considering a smaller DD coil and discovered there are three coils by White’s that fit the V3i:

Eclipse Shooter “DD” 4x6
Eclipse 5.3 (6x6)
Eclipse “DD” 6x10

The 4x6DD is great for trashy area's but you won't get near the depth of the D2 coil, if its not extremely trashy the 6x10DD is a good choice with better depth. If your wanting a coil that will handle the really trashy area's then the 4x6DD coil is the way to go, just won't get the really deep old stuff unless you clear some trash out first then use a bigger coil. my 2 cents...all of those coils are excellent choices , for certain scenarios. If you truly are not concerned with maximizing depth, I would agree with Wingmaster. Sneak goodies from amongst the trash @ 4-6 inches, and/or clear trash and then use the stock 950 coil to get another 2 or 3 inches.

I use only 2 coils on my V3i the D2 for the deeper stuff and the 4x6DD for the trashy areas.

That's a lot of machine for what your doing. I disagree with those small coils not going very deep. I have all the coils listed above on this thread. My favorite small coil is the 5.3, but that's my opinion and really should not mean much to you. I would go nuts hunting a big park and school with such a small coil. My everyday coil under what I consider normal circumstance is the 9.5. In the right settings and practice, you may not even need a small coil.

You will need to learn your detector the 10DD coil isn't all that bad in trash... I have the 5.3 also but with that coil it takes forever to grid an area. My other coil is a 10x6DD, performance is basically identical to the 10DD but it works better in trash and areas with High RFI.
